Payment, Rescheduling, Cancellation and Refund Policies

Payment

Full payment must be made at the time of booking.

Payment plans may be arranged for regular customers at the discretion of Dive Coaching Australia.

Rescheduling

Rescheduling may be done once at no charge with 7 days notice. Subsequent rescheduling, or re-scheduling up to 48 hours in advance, will incur a $250 fee.

Rescheduling will not be done with less than 48 hours notice, except due to illness (see Illness, below), and payment will not be refunded or credited.

Late or No Show

A no-show, for any reason, automatically forfeits all payment.

Over 30 minutes late to a booked session or dive will be considered a no-show. Boats depart on a schedule and divers not ready to depart at the scheduled time will forfeit payment.

Refund for Coaching Sessions and Courses

Refunds will only be offered when a student provides an AS4005.1 medical declaring the student is permanently unfit to dive. Refunds will be reduced by the cost of any expenses incurred and a booking fee of $100.

Changing to a different course may be done at the discretion of Dive Coaching Australia with a $250 per person rebooking fee as long as the new course fits the schedule and all members in the clients party agree.

If a booking is made as a group and the rest of the group cancels, the remaining diver is required to pay the normal price.

Courses and coaching sessions purchased at discounted rates are not entitled to refunds.

Weather

Dive Coaching Australia may cancel due to weather as required by our duty of care. The decision to cancel due to bad weather is made with your safety and enjoyment in mind.

Bookings for events/non-course dives will be re-scheduled at no cost. If you are unable to attend the re-booked time, a refund will be provided, less a $100 booking fee, if requested within 24 hours.

If an event is split, such as with meal and dive events, attending any part of the event will incur the full cost of the event and no refund will be issued.

Travel Insurance and Illness

We strongly recommend taking out travel insurance that covers illness, cancellation, medical evacuation, and scuba diving within its policy.

Cancellations due to illness within 72 hours are not refundable.

Rebooking due to illness with at least 48 hours notice will be done for free once for clients who have completed all homework.

Future rebooking due to illness will incur a $250 fee.

Educational Policies

Course Certification

As part of our commitment to quality, Dive Coaching Australia will not certify clients who can not meet the certification requirements.

Dive Coaching Australia provides education and does not guarantee that a student will be able to meet the requirements to achieve certification. Dive Coaching Australia staff will do our best to work with a student to achieve the required skills within the time provided by the session or course.

Clients disregarding good diving practices, including safety and care of the marine environment will be removed from the course. This includes ignoring any safety related instruction provided by Dive Coaching Australia staff.

All skills will be conducted neutrally buoyant. Clients unable to conduct a skill neutrally buoyant will not be certified.

Extra Training

Courses are provided with pre-defined inclusions. Extra training required beyond the included time will incur normal hourly rates. This may occur if clients are unable to achieve the skill level required for certification within the provided timeframe.

Client Responsibilities

Focus

Dive Coaching Australia will focus entirely on you during our sessions and we request that you do the same.

Ask Questions

We believe in providing the best education possible. This is a partnership between you and our staff. Unfortunately, we’re not mind readers so we rely on you to ask questions if you do not understand or if you need assistance.

Fitness

Clients are required to be able to swim 200 metres and tread water for 10 minutes.

Please ensure you are able to do this before booking as refunds are not offered due to not being able to meet fitness requirements.

Homework

Theory and online study is a required component of most courses and some private sessions. Clients may also be assigned homework as part of a course (for example, practising skills).

Failure to complete homework which causes an inability to continue the session will result in a $250 rebooking fee for scheduled courses or forfeiture of payment for private sessions.

Course Timeline

Clients are responsible for ensuring courses are completed within one year of the booking date. After one year, a new course will need to be booked and paid for.

Contact Details

It is the clients responsibility to ensure that contact details are kept up to date. Inability to contact a client due to out of date contact details may result in dive cancellation, session cancellation or loss of payment.

Dive Coaching Australia Responsibilities

Dive Coaching Australia will:

  • Start the course as scheduled, subject to weather and other safety concerns
  • Provide a positive learning environment in which to master course objectives
  • Answer clients to the best of their ability
  • Assist clients through learning challenges
